Hello. Welcome to some ramblings on The Early Edition.
For those of you not familiar with The Early Edition, it's a spin-off live show from the popular BBC4 programme, The Late Edition. Well, not a complete spin-off, in that it's not the same format. It doesn't have the insightful interviews with leading politicians and provocative topical guests. Nor the kooky filmed segments for that matter. And there's no reporter stoking up a story for our amusement (John Oliver was doing just that on The Late Edition long before he was on the The Daily Show). In fact, it's nothing like the broadcast version whatsoever. Just the name. Well, nearly the name. And some of the people who worked on it. That's the host, Marcus Brigstocke, and the fat bloke who got in everyone's face, André Vincent. And that woman. You know, the few times they needed wisdom on the show, Carrie Quinlan.
So, the live show is...
...those three guys, plus a special guest: comic, author, journalist, broadcaster...someone with a mind and an opinion. They comb through the newspapers of the day, and for the audience's entertainment, ridicule the naysayers, unravel the spin and pooh-pooh pompous headlines. Oh yeah, it's funny...
This site is The Early Edition's bit of blah - blogs from festivals, the panel showing off on video, and of course, a little bit of topical chit-chat. Enjoy....
